Overview

OpenSoftHub ("this Site") is an open source software discovery and download directory. This Site does not require registration and does not collect personal identifiers such as names, email addresses or account passwords. We use analytics tools to understand visitor traffic in order to improve our content and experience. For visitors in the EU/European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK, this Site processes data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive, applying region-appropriate consent flows.

Information we collect

The information this Site collects depends on your region and the consent choices you make:

  • Analytics (Google Analytics): anonymous statistics such as page views, traffic sources, device and browser types, and approximate region. Only enabled after you consent (Consent Mode v2).
  • On-site product analytics: the browser generates a random anonymous ID for the current tab to connect search, detail, download confirmation and download actions. It contains no account, IP address or device fingerprint, expires when the tab is closed, and server-side events are retained for no more than 180 days.
  • Server logs: IP address, request time and path, used only for security, download rate limiting and regional statistics; not used to identify individuals, and cleaned periodically.
  • Download regional statistics: download events record IP and convert it to country/state/city-level anonymous region information (see "Download data" below); plaintext IP is automatically cleared after 30 days.
  • Consent preferences: your cookie consent/refusal choices are stored in your browser's local storage (localStorage) so we can enable or disable analytics accordingly.
  • Not collected: names, email addresses, account passwords, payment information, and the contents of downloaded files.

Cookies & consent management

This Site uses cookies provided by Google Analytics (such as _ga) to distinguish visitors, for anonymous usage statistics only. These are "non-essential" cookies: in the EU/EEA and UK, we only enable them after you give explicit consent via the on-site banner.

You can change your choice at any time via the banner at the bottom of the page, using "Accept all", "Reject all" or "Save preferences". Rejecting analytics does not affect any core functionality.

Third-party services & external links

Usage statistics are provided by Google Analytics; related data processing is governed by Google'sGoogle 隐私政策 (Google Privacy Policy). Software detail and download pages may link to third-party sites such as GitHub or official software sites; once you leave this Site, those sites' own privacy policies apply.

Download data

Download requests are forwarded or cached by this Site's servers, used only for file transfer, rate limiting and download statistics. To measure user distribution, we record the IP address at download time and convert it, via the offline ip2region database, to country/state/city-level region information; plaintext IP is retained for only 30 days and then automatically cleared, keeping only city-level region data (not personal data). Cached files are unmodified copies of official releases; this Site does not analyze the contents of downloaded files.

Data retention

Analytics data is managed per Google Analytics' retention policy; server logs are cleaned periodically after the necessary retention period. Plaintext IP in download event records is automatically cleared after 30 days, keeping only country/state/city-level region information.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have the following rights under the law:

  • Right to be informed: to know what personal data this Site collects and processes about you (see above).
  • Right of access: to request a copy of your personal data held by this Site.
  • Right to rectification: to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure: to request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to object / withdraw consent: to withdraw consent to analytics processing at any time, or to object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to data portability: to request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the email below; we will process and respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g. CNIL, ICO, DPC).
