Getting a "can't verify the developer" warning?

If you see a warning on first launch, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway". Open source software usually isn't signed with an Apple developer certificate, which is normal.

Clicking "Download" takes you to a source confirmation page first; the download starts after confirmation.

macOS

If you are using Apple Silicon (M1/M2, etc.) or an Intel chip, we recommend downloading AppFlowy-0.13.0-macos-universal.dmg (universal binary, compatible with both).
You can also choose the arm64 or x86_64 version based on your chip: AppFlowy-0.13.0-macos-arm64.dmg or AppFlowy-0.13.0-macos-x86_64.dmg.
Open the DMG file and drag AppFlowy into the "Applications" folder.
If you see "cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" when opening for the first time, right-click the app icon, select "Open", then confirm; or go to "System Settings → Privacy & Security" to allow the app to run.

Windows

We recommend downloading AppFlowy-0.13.0-windows-x86_64.exe. Double-click to run and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
You can also download AppFlowy-0.13.0-windows-x86_64.zip, unzip it, and run it directly.

Linux (additional)

You can download AppFlowy-0.13.0-linux-x86_64.deb (for Debian/Ubuntu) or .rpm (for Fedora/openSUSE), or .AppImage to run directly.

Android (additional)

Download AppFlowy-0.13.0-android.apk and install it manually. You need to allow installation from unknown sources. Note: ARMv7 devices are not supported; Android 10 or later is required.

Getting a "damaged and cannot be opened" message? Try running the following in Terminal: sudo xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/AppFlowy.app (adjust the path to match your actual location).

Is AppFlowy free software?

Yes, AppFlowy is released under the AGPL-3.0 open-source license. It is free to download and use, and the source code is public.

Which operating systems are supported?

Officially supports macOS and Windows, and also provides Linux (AppImage, deb, rpm) and Android APK installation packages. On macOS, we recommend downloading the universal version; on Windows, the EXE installer.

How do I update to a new version?

You can go to the GitHub Releases page or use the in-app update feature if available. You can also re-download the latest installation package and install it over the existing version; your data will be preserved.

Where is my data stored? Is local storage supported?

AppFlowy supports local storage. Data is stored locally on your device by default, and you have full control over your data. You can view or change the storage location in settings.

What should I do if macOS says 'cannot verify the developer' when opening?

As AppFlowy is not currently notarized by Apple, you may need to manually allow it on first run. Right-click the app and select 'Open', or allow the app in System Settings.
