Getting a "can't verify the developer" warning?

If you see a warning on first launch, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway". Open source software usually isn't signed with an Apple developer certificate, which is normal.

Clicking "Download" takes you to a source confirmation page first; the download starts after confirmation.

Installation Guide

Choose the appropriate package based on your operating system and processor architecture.

macOS

  • Apple Silicon (M1/M2, etc.): Download Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-arm64.dmg (recommended on this site)
  • Intel chips: Download Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-x64.dmg

Installation steps:

  1. Double-click the .dmg file to mount the disk image.
  2. Drag the Cherry Studio icon into the Applications folder.
  3. Open Cherry Studio from Launchpad or the Applications folder.

Common first-run issues:

If you see "cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer," right-click the app icon and choose "Open," or in System Settings → Privacy & Security, click "Open Anyway."

Windows

  • Intel/AMD 64-bit: Download Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-x64-setup.exe (recommended on this site) or Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-x64-portable.exe
  • ARM64 devices: Download Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-arm64-setup.exe or Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-arm64-portable.exe

Installation steps:

  1. Double-click setup.exe and follow the wizard to complete installation.
  2. The portable.exe can be run directly without installation.

Common first-run issues:

If SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC," click "More info" → "Run anyway."

Linux (reference)

The package list on this site also includes Linux formats that can be tried on corresponding distributions:

  • Debian/Ubuntu (x64): Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-amd64.deb
  • Debian/Ubuntu (arm64): Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-arm64.deb

Installation steps:

  • DEB package: run sudo dpkg -i Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-amd64.deb
  • RPM package: run sudo rpm -i Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-x86_64.rpm
  • AppImage: first run chmod +x Cherry-Studio-1.9.12-x86_64.AppImage, then double-click or run from the command line.

Note: The official "supported platforms" only list macOS and Windows. Linux packages may not be fully tested; use them as needed.

FAQ

Is Cherry Studio free software?

The community edition is available free of charge under the AGPL-3.0 open source license. The official version also offers a paid enterprise edition with centralized management, employee permissions, private deployment, and other capabilities, which can be obtained by contacting sales.

Which operating systems are supported?

Officially, Windows and macOS are supported. The package list also includes Linux deb/rpm/AppImage formats, but the support scope should follow the official documentation.

Do I need to have an API key for large models?

When using cloud models such as OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic, you usually need to provide your own API key. If you use local models like Ollama or LM Studio, no API key is required.

How do I update to a new version?

Please follow the project's GitHub Releases page, download the latest package for your platform, and install it over your existing version.

How is data backed up?

The software supports WebDAV file management and backup. You can configure a WebDAV service in Settings to back up your data.
