Risk notice
ScreenToGif depends on .NET 9 Desktop Runtime; if it is not installed, the app will not start. MSIX deployment packages may require sideloading to be enabled outside the Microsoft Store environment. We recommend downloading only from official sources such as GitHub Releases, the Microsoft Store, Chocolatey, or the author's website, and avoiding modified versions from unknown sources.

- Users who want to fine-tune their animated recordings frame by frame in an editor
- Users who need to capture footage from a webcam or graphics tablet
- Users who prefer a portable version and don't want to install software
- Windows users who need support for multiple architectures
Who it's not for
- macOS or Linux users
- Users who do not want to install the .NET 9 Desktop Runtime
- Users seeking full video editing capabilities (e.g., multi-track editing, transitions)
Install guide
ScreenToGif is only available for Windows. Choose the installer that matches your system architecture.
- 64-bit systems: We recommend downloading
ScreenToGif.2.43.2.Setup.x64.msi - 32-bit systems: Download
ScreenToGif.2.43.2.Setup.x86.msi - Arm64 devices: Download
ScreenToGif.2.43.2.Setup.Arm64.msi - To run without installation, download the corresponding portable version for your architecture, e.g.,
ScreenToGif.2.43.2.Portable.x64.zip, and run the contained exe after extraction. - For enterprise deployment or management via an application installer, you can use an MSIX package such as
ScreenToGif.2.43.2.Package.x64.msix(Arm64 and x86 versions are also available).
Installation steps (using the MSI as an example):
- Download the .msi file matching your system architecture.
- Double-click it and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Before first launch, make sure .NET 9 Desktop Runtime or later is installed, otherwise the program may not start.
Using the portable version:
- Download the corresponding
.zipfile, e.g.,ScreenToGif.2.43.2.Portable.x64.zip. - Right-click and extract to a local directory.
- Navigate to the directory and run
ScreenToGif.exe.
Troubleshooting:
- If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC” or a SmartScreen block, verify the download source, then choose “More info” and “Run anyway” (only for installation files you trust).
- If double-clicking does nothing, check that .NET 9 Desktop Runtime is installed.
- ScreenToGif does not support macOS, so there is no macOS “cannot open because the developer cannot be verified” warning.

How do I update to a new version?
You can download the latest installer from the GitHub Releases page. You can also install via Chocolatey or the Microsoft Store, where update notifications or automatic updates are usually available.
